The Comox Valley is packed with incredibly diverse locations that work for cinematic portraits, love stories, family sessions and creative concepts. The biggest advantage of this region is that within 10–15 minutes you can switch from ocean landscapes to deep forests, beaches, cliffs or rivers.
Here are the locations I use the most in my work:
1. Kye Bay Beach
Soft light, a wide open shoreline and clean pale sand. Perfect for calm love stories, sunset portraits and minimalist compositions. Works great year-round.
2. Goose Spit
One of the most cinematic spots in the Valley. Long sunsets, driftwood, reflective water, textured skies and open space. Ideal for emotional storytelling shoots.
3. Airpark Walkway
Smooth water, modern minimalistic backgrounds and open skies. Works for lifestyle sessions, couples and solo portraits with a clean, crisp look.
4. Puntledge River
Rocks, flowing water, forest shadows and beautiful light pockets. Excellent for movement, barefoot sessions, lifestyle shots or dynamic portraits.
5. Cumberland Forest
Dense evergreen trees, textured trails, rustic bridges and dramatic light. Great for moody, contrast-heavy cinematic portraits or fantasy-styled concepts.
6. Nymph Falls
Bright water, fast streams and stone patterns. A very dynamic background for couples, families or adventurous portrait shoots.
7. Seal Bay Park
Tall trees, quiet trails, soft forest gradients and peaceful light. A calm, clean setting for intimate portraits, nature-inspired sessions and elopements.
8. Comox Marina & Downtown Comox|Courtenay
Colorful boats, ocean reflections and urban details. Works well for fun lifestyle photos, couples’ walks and simple documentary-style sessions.
9. Miracle Beach (slightly outside the Valley but 10–15 minutes away)
Wide coastline, open air, distant mountains and very consistent light throughout the day. Great for family photos, big compositions and cinematic long shots.
10. Little River ferry area
Ocean views, textured rocks and ferry silhouettes. A very atmospheric, slightly industrial, slightly coastal vibe.
These locations are only a small part of what the Comox Valley has to offer.
If you want something more unique, we can explore hidden beaches, quiet forest spots or unusual cinematic places outside the Valley within a 30-minute drive. There’s always a way to create something personal and unforgettable.
